What it Means to Have Unshakable Faith
What does it mean to have unshakeable faith? Over the next ten days, you will travel through a well-beloved Bible story: the battle between David and Goliath.
But this is much more than a sweet story for children! David stood up in the face of fear, against impossible odds. He also chose to walk in faith. He knew God would give protection and victory despite threats from his enemy, accusations from his brother, and doubts from his leader.
Just as Joshua was commanded to take possession of all the land promised to the Israelites, David's faith assured him of God's promises and victory.
Whose voice is directing your life? Are your thoughts grounded in faith or fearful, overwhelmed, and anxious?

Understanding Unshakeable Faith
Unshakeable faith is the unwavering trust and confidence in God’s character, promises, and sovereignty. It is the bedrock of a Christian’s life, enabling us to stand firm in the midst of challenges and uncertainties.
This kind of faith is not swayed by emotions or circumstances but is anchored in the unchanging nature of God. As the Bible reminds us, “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19).
To cultivate unshakeable faith, it’s essential to know God intimately and understand His character. This involves recognizing His reliability, goodness, love, and sovereignty.
Psalm 62:8 encourages us, “Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” By immersing ourselves in the truth of who God is, we can build a faith that stands strong, no matter what life throws our way. Remember, unshakeable faith is rooted in the certainty that God is faithful and His promises are true.
Strengthen Your Faith, One Day at a Time
Life’s battles can feel overwhelming, but when you anchor yourself in God’s promises, you’re not fighting alone. Unshakeable Faith is designed to help you walk in daily victory by focusing on core truths: believing the promises of Jesus, being led by the Holy Spirit, and knowing God’s truth about your identity. Here’s how each aspect comes to life during your journey:
Believing the Promises of Our Lord Jesus Christ
The Bible is filled with promises God has made to His children—promises of provision, protection, and peace. And Jesus has won the victory for us!
Just as the Israelites approached the promised land, trusting in God's fulfillment of His promises, we too can rely on His faithfulness.
Yet, in life’s struggles, it can be hard to hold onto these truths. Unshakeable Faith helps you reconnect with the promises of Christ, reminding you that God is faithful and will fulfill every word He has spoken over you. As you journal each day, you’ll meditate on scriptures that reinforce the power and certainty of His promises, enabling you to move forward with confidence.
Being Led by the Holy Spirit
True strength and guidance come from the Holy Spirit, who was given to us as a helper and comforter. Throughout the journal, you’ll be encouraged to listen to the Spirit’s voice in your life, discerning His guidance for your specific circumstances.
Each day provides space for reflection and prayer, so you can be led by the Spirit and experience His peace even when facing uncertainty. This journal will remind you that God is intimately involved in every detail of your life and He will never leave you to fight your battles alone.
Knowing God’s Truth About Your Identity
In the face of adversity, it’s easy to forget who you truly are: a beloved child of God. The world may try to define you by your failures, your past, or even your current struggles, but God sees you as His masterpiece, created for a purpose.
Each day of the journal helps you affirm your identity in Christ, grounding you in the truth of who God says you are. You’ll reflect on scriptures that reveal your worth, strength, and calling, and you'll begin to see yourself the way God does—loved, chosen, and equipped for victory.
By focusing on these foundational truths, Unshakeable Faith is more than a journal—it’s a roadmap to building a faith that can withstand any storm. Ready to begin your journey?
Overcoming Anxiety and Fear
Anxiety and fear are natural responses to the uncertainties and challenges of life. However, as Jesus' disciples, we are called to rise above these emotions by placing our trust in God’s sovereignty and love.
The Bible offers us a powerful antidote to anxiety: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
To overcome anxiety and fear, we must learn to surrender our worries to God. This involves being still and recognizing His presence and power in our lives.
Cultivating a Life of Worship and Praise
Worship and praise are vital components of a Christian’s life, and David knew all about intimate worship with His Creator. Worship involves recognizing God’s sovereignty and majesty, while praise is our heartfelt response to His love and goodness. As Psalm 95:2 invites us, “Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.”
To cultivate a life of worship and praise, prioritize spending time with God, reading His Word, and praying. Make it a daily habit to seek His presence and guidance, even amidst a busy schedule. Worship is not just about singing songs; it’s about living a life that honors God in every aspect.
By surrendering our lives to Him and trusting in His sovereignty and love, we can build a faith that remains unshakeable. Let your worship be a constant reminder of God’s greatness and your praise a testament to His unfailing love.
Let's Build Unshakeable Faith Together
At the end of summer 2024, I felt depleted after enduring a year of many transitions, which included starting a new job at a hectic pace. I even questioned my commitment to leading a Fall fast for our online fasting community.
I had made a commitment with this group at the beginning of the year to fast every first Wednesday and longer fasts in January and September; yet as the time for our September fast rolled around, I was at the end of myself.
Reaching the end of yourself is the best place to be!
Instead of relying on yourself, you’re completely dependent on the Lord, recognizing His strength, power, and creativity are limitless. So I prayed: Father, if this time of fasting and prayer is supposed to happen, then I need your presence, wisdom, and a clear word from You for these women.
God gave me the story of David and Goliath and spoke the following phrase: unshakeable faith for every battle.
What Does Unshakable Faith Look Like?
Unshakable faith is the foundation I want for life. When the storms of life come at me, I don't want to be caught
worried
floundering
stressed
overwhelmed
anxious
caught off guard
bitter or angry
I knew I wasn’t supposed to fast because I felt strong and ready—I was being called to fast because I needed to be filled. I needed the Lord to remind me, as He always does, that He is the source of my strength, my hope, and my endurance.
This Unshakeable Faith journal was born out of that season. It’s a guide for those moments when you feel you have nothing left, when life’s challenges seem insurmountable, and when you realize that depending on your own strength is no longer an option.
The journal is inspired by the story of David and Goliath—a reminder that, with God, we can face giants in our lives and emerge victorious, not by might or power, but by His Spirit. Just as the Israelites faced a wall of water at the Red Sea, and the Lord parted the waters and made a way for them to walk through.
He will do the same for you!
Whether you're facing insurmountable obstacles, nagging negative patterns, or simply hungry for a deeper connection with God, this 10-day journey is designed to help you focus on the One who fights your battles for you. Together, we'll reflect on scripture, pray through challenges, and take practical steps to build a faith that stands firm, no matter the circumstances.
Let this be a reminder that when you're at the end of yourself, you're in the perfect position for the Father to do His greatest work. Are you ready to step into a season of unshakeable faith? Join me as we journey together in surrender and strength.
Sustaining Spiritual Growth
Sustaining spiritual growth requires a commitment to ongoing learning, prayer, and obedience to God’s Word.
To sustain spiritual growth, prioritize reading and studying God’s Word, seek guidance from spiritual leaders and mentors, and engage in regular prayer and worship. Be intentional about seeking God’s presence and guidance, even in the midst of challenges and uncertainties.
Unshakeable faith also requires a willingness to trust in God’s sovereignty and love, even when circumstances seem uncertain. By committing to these practices, you can nurture a faith that is resilient and ever-growing, rooted in the truth of who God is and His promises for your life.
Peace in the Storm
To sum it up, this journal is for everyone in every season. Sometimes we hear rumblings in the distance, but storms often roll upon unexpectedly.
When life is going well, praise God! When life is going terribly, praise God! We praise God on the mountaintops and the valleys, this is what our unshakable faith looks like—we build our faith in all seasons.
We believe God, even when the circumstances don't look ideal. It's time to take our head knowledge and turn it into heart conviction. When fear comes at us, we speak faith and courage because we aren't living only in this world, but in the kingdom of God—and we have power and authority because of Jesus and the finished work of the cross.
On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” - Mark 4:35-40
