Day 8 Daniel Fast 12 Day Devotional

DAY 8

READING: Daniel 8

KEY VERSE

When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it; and behold, standing before me was one who looked like a man.
Daniel 8:15

Daniel’s visions and interpretations for himself and others were primarily related to rulers, governments, and political affairs. And that makes sense based on his job responsibilities, influence, and calling.

What sphere of influence has God called you to? Are you receiving divine revelation for this area? Chances are God has direction to give you, but the question is: are you seeking Him in all areas of your life?

God wants to be intimately involved in every detail and give supernatural gifts and insights. Beyond church on Sunday and quiet time in the morning, the Lord is available to guide you through business, work, and every moment on your calendar. The most practical of decisions can be supernaturally directed. God doesn’t differentiate between secular and spiritual time - He created the world and everything in it!

Seek understanding and guidance from the Lord.

An important note about the impact this revelation had on Daniel not to alarm us but to prepare us. As the chapter closes he says, “Then I, Daniel, was exhausted and sick for days. Then I got up again and carried on the king’s business; but I was astounded at the vision, and there was none to explain it.' (Daniel 8:27).

Visions and dreams sound exciting, but there is a weight to them. Again, this is not to be fearful but to be aware that a powerful word from the Lord will have an impact and a responsibility. Sometimes we are supposed to share the message, and other times we are supposed to hold onto it and pray. The Holy Spirit will give you direction in this. Like Daniel, we also have to get up and take care of business, staying grounded in reality and surrounded by wise counsel in a healthy spiritual family.
