Day 7 Daniel Fast 12 Day Devotional
DAY 7
READING: Daniel 7
KEY VERSE
And to Him was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; and His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.
Daniel 7:14
Have you ever experienced a God-given dream or vision? I’m not talking about a night after too much pizza or a goal you envision as you daydream, I mean an actual message from God.
Daniel 1:17 says that, “Daniel even understood all kinds of visions and dreams”. He was able to interpret the dreams and visions of others, but also had personal experiences. The first six chapters of the book of Daniel are a chronological account of events. The second half begins in Chapter 7, and the book shifts from stories of life in the natural to an account of Daniel’s prophetic revelations.
Daniel was gifted in receiving and interpreting messages from the Lord in this way. In the book of Acts, and throughout other parts of the Bible, there are many examples of people being led by God through dreams and visions, including the book of Acts.
As exciting as that may sound, anchor yourself in a core truth: God is the one who gives the dreams and revelations. He is sovereign in all things, and whatever gifts, wisdom, and revelation we receive, He is the source and deserves all the praise.
Daniel’s greatest revelation in Chapter 7 was not about the rise and fall of human empires, it was the revelation of the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man. These passages parallel the book of Revelation, which begins by stating, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His bond-servants…” (Rev 1:1).
Before the Son of Man walked the earth, Daniel had a revelation of Him. Be sure you get the revelation of WHO is coming more than the details of what is to come and when and where it will happen.
